ANNUAL SCOTTISH ALLOTMENTS CONFERENCE 2013

Designing the Allotment Community

This year's Annual Scottish Allotments Conference and AGM will be held in the Victoria Halls, Dunblane on June 15. The conference will be addressed by Derek Mackay MSP, Minister for Local Government and Planning. The minister will talk about the proposed Community Empowerment and Renewal Bill. This will contain new legislation for allotments which will potentially have a major impact on every allotment site in Scotland and certainly affect all new groups hoping to create allotments. The Conference is an opportunity for plot-holders to discuss the possible content with the Minister before the draft bill is presented for consultation in the Autumn. In addition the Minister will launch the Scottish Allotments Site Design Guide, the latest addition to the SAGS publications.

We are also delighted to have Jim McColl, broadcaster from the Beechgrove Potting Shed, coming to chair a session on Allotment Growing problems.

In addition to these highlights there will be news from new sites all around the country, a fascinating talk on Butterfly Conservation and a range of workshops.

The conference is free to attend. Coffee and lunch are available. So if you wish to attend please complete a registration form and return it so that the organisers can have some idea of numbers for catering purposes.
