Composting Woody Heaps

Woodyheap thumbnail There is lots of advice around about how to build a compost heap using garden and kitchen vegetable waste.  But most people believe that woody waste is a real problem, and needs to be shredded, burnt or, even worse, sent to the municipal dump.  However clicking on this picture will open an article explaining how to use your woody prunings to build a woody heap and create a wonderful compost rich in nutrients.  All you need is a little space and lots of patience.  While you are waiting for your compost to mature your woody heap will be a haven of biodiversity (or – less politically correct – a hiding place for every creepy crawly you can imagine!)
