horticulture 1
Napier University and Royal Botanic Garden
Edinburgh have
collaborated to develop a course which will give the amateur
and professional gardener a sound foundation in horticulture.
It covers a wide range of topics and has been
designed as a
preparatory course of study for the Royal Horicultural Society
General Horticulture Certificate, which has been recognised for
over 100 years as an excellent foundation qualification in
horticulture.
This distance learning course, begun in Spring
2001, is about
to go into its 3rd year, and work is currently in hand to update
materials for the course planned to be available from Spring
2003 through to Spring 2004.
Optional workshops will be held at the Royal
Botanic Garden Edinburgh - these have been highly thought of, with
much
benefit felt by both the students and the tutors.
Students will be provided with an extended
and easy to use set
of course materials compiled by RBG Edinburgh and Napier
University. Each student will be assigned a personal tutor.
Tutor support is provided throughout the course
by means of
telephone, e-mail, or post, depending upon your preference -
e-mail has become the method of choice for many of the
students, and the tutors are well equipped to offer support that
way if that is your choice..
